Owners of a scrapped vehicle under a tax lien can ask the Municipality for a certificate of unusability, needed to remove it from the vehicle register (Law no. 14/2026). The service costs €100.00 per request, payable through PagoPA. The Local Police handle it.

The fee was created after the 2026-2028 budget: the act explains that the law and the ministerial circular no. 9948 of 01/04/2026 came later and that it is not an increase of existing fees. It applies to requests filed from the date the decision becomes enforceable. A budget variation is needed.
